Re: What's more toxic?

sports culture is more pervasive and more frequently has tangible results– coaches being treated like untouchable gods despite abuse, celebrity sports figures getting away with domestic abuse and rape, all the money that goes into lining the pockets of truly despicable people, people getting beaten to death at arenas for wearing the wrong jerseys, soccer riots, turning cars over and setting things on fire when a match is over, etc... not to mention a lot of the misogynistic and homophobic undertones that frequently are involved. nerd culture is pretty terrible, but most of its terribleness is confined online.
