Why do you feel that, anon? I'm going to need some convincing that population demographics for f!s trolls differ substantially from the overall f!s population.

It seems to me that anyone can troll regardless whatever variables you want to assign.

So I guess my argument is going to be that "person who comes to F!S to troll" is just a fundamentally different user profile than "person who comes to F!S to post sincerely", and that information about sincere posters just is not meaningful when it comes to posters.

I'm not saying that troll!posters are more likely to be men, or that any gender is incapable of trolling. I'm more saying that we have a lack of evidence and therefore can't conclude anything.

See, I would disagree with that. To my mind the same person who comes to post sincerely might just get bored with the variety of that day's secrets (or threads) and troll for kicks.

What we do have is a bunch of older threads where people have posted gender. They might not be representative of the exact f!s population today, but they pretty much indicate (to the best of my recollection) that on any given day we're likely to be 80-95% female. There are still arguments to be made about how accurate that data is, but given that other people have done similar surveys about the wider population of lj and hit similar percentages (typically 70-80% female given the fandom space) I'd wager this community is probably fairly representative of typical lj demographics.

Ergo, laws of probability state that OP is female.

I agree, but I think I can simplify your point. Men are more likely to be the type of person who get something out of being shitty to women, so the type of person who comes to a woman friendly community to be shitty to women is much more likely to be a man.
