It makes so much sense. My town does a HUGE celebration. It used to be that Wednesday night was family movie night at the amphitheater but budget cuts forced them to cancel it. Then Thursday night and Friday night are carnival nights, there's a classic concert on Thursday night, Saturday is the parade and then the carnival runs again on Saturday leading up to the fireworks.

They used to have a flea market on Saturday right after the parade but that stopped a few years back.

Still it is so nice that I always get the Sunday to recover from the party to go back to work no matter what.
