"SMILE, WHY DON'T YOU SMILE!"

There was an older guy, a regular at my last place of employment. Every time he saw me he would always tell me that. Even when I was working a rough day in 90 degree heat and at my wits end. When I was out on the lot he once turned while in the car to give me a gesture that clearly said "smile".

Then he started calling me "smiley" and it just made me want to run way every-time I saw him. I'm 99% sure the "smiles" I gave him looked like I was in pain. I don't know if this kind of "teasing" was considered acceptable when he was younger. But it was infuriating.
