Re: Canon Discontinuity

Sometimes you know behind-the-scenes shenanigans that prevented the show-runner (or whoever else is in charge) from doing what they really wanted to do with the plot or characters. And sometimes what happened on the show is lame and what should have happened is great. So in that case, I think it's fine to pretend what happened on screen didn't happen and go with the creator's original idea as canon.

But sometimes you hear the creator's original idea and you think, "holy shit that would have been so bad, WTF is wrong with you? Do you not understand your own characters?! UGGGHHH." In which case, pretend you didn't know about the creator's original idea, and stick with what happened on the show as canon.

Basically, it's meaningless and arbitrary and whatever, just have fun! Fandom is supposed to be fun and enjoyable! If it makes you happy to pretend that episodes 19-23 never happened, and that character X is actually character Y's dad, and that character 123 is actually a ghost, just do it! Who cares, it's fiction, life's too short to waste time arguing over shit that's not real on the internet.
