It's why a couple manga series ended either at a very specific point or I rewrote the ending in my head.

I do the same thing with Voyager. C/7 was just a horrible dream on Chakotay's part caused by eating Neelix's leftover leola root stew. When he woke up he purged the dream and the stew out of his system and never mentioned a word of it to anyone. He and Seven continued to cordially dislike each other, and after they got back to Earth Seven moved in with Captain Janeway and they now have three beautiful cats. Chakotay later entered into a three-way relationship with Tom and B'Ellana and they're all very happy, except poor Harry Kim, because no one will ever love or promote him.
