I AGREE X OVER 9000 AND I CAN'T HELP BUT THINK IT'S SO UNBELIEVABLY CRACKY AND RETARDED. -How- the stupid girls can say it's 'canon' makes me want to smack them with a fish. Having it for lulz is one thing, but honestly--NO. Roy/Ed is one of the few slash pairing that bug the crapola out of me...

What if it's a fan that likes it for the crack aspect, and cringes at all the fangirls who think it's "OMGSOCANON" giving us a bad name? ~~Ignoring that those fangirls make up the majority of fans for that pairing...~~

I don't know... I got into it for the awkward and 'the lulz' and I never really expected it to blow so much out of proportion. It was a crack pairing to start with.

Out of control crazies are in -every- fandom, I guess. I know where you're coming from, like...(okay not the same thing but whatever). -I- get made fun of for my flamboyant caplock of Winry/Sheska (EVEN THO I WILL DEFEND THE ANIME'S FANSERVICE LULZ TO THE BITTER ENDDDD xD)...and omg, Armstrong/ANYONE. My crack Naruto's Kakashi/Sakura, FFVII's Aerith/Tifa, and YGO's Kaiba/Yuugi thank goodness haven't been ruined too much by the dumb (unlike my poor, poor Sasuke/Naruto D;), but the FMA Roy/Ed fans ruined it for me before I could even start. D:

WinryxScieszka is so canon, though. It can not be denied. Or something. I know, it's like taboo to like yaoi and yuri in some places... I must say Kakashi/Sakura intrigues me on a crack level, but I don't watch the series so I just sit and marvel at the amount of people who sincerely seem to enjoy that pairing (at all various time periods) and I'm usually one to strongly oppose massive age gaps (I won't read RoyxEd unless Ed's at least sixteen, and prefer him over eighteen, but that's just me. AU-fic, whut.) Although I didn't think Aerith/Tifa was a crack pairing, but again, uh- so far buried in FMA fandom I haven't seen another one since YYH...

and yes, the Sasuke/Naruto or... whichever way you want that to go- far outranks Roy/Ed for all the drama and fangirlism cliches, from what I've seen.

I totally totally totally agree--it's weird for me because I'M 18 and rarely now if I'm handling the relationship right (lofls, but then, does anyone at any age? xD). Kakashi/Sakura; Sephiroth/Cloud; insert-other-pairing here subtext is kinda hot I guess if it's handled right, much like other 'taboos' (*cough cough* my beloved elricest *cough*), but nothing until there's more maturity/development psychologically for the younger half of the age gap--even the most mature fifteen year old has nothing on an older kid, to me and I liked to see it grow into equals.

Crack/Tifa/Aerith in the sense that "crap she's dead! @$#%@$#@%#$" xD And it never pops up in AU's or anything like that! D: IDK, I'm pretty broad in my definition of crack; as in that I automatically think 'lawls, the writers would NEVER do this,' in addition to my WTF meter scale.

I have to admit, as awesome as the Winry/Scieszka togetherness was in the movie - and revisiting the alien line, made that whole scene for me - it was the Elrics being together that made the actual movie. ~~Yes, I'm one of those annoying fans that reads RoyxEd and ships Elricest like it ought to be canon.~~

I love gen-fic. It's so hard to come across, the smaller the fandom gets- but I really do love it. My favorite fic for about a year was a gen-fic revolving around Roy/Ed that was probably supposed to be insinuative, but remained nuetral. It was beautiful, and I've yet to find a gen-fic that comes even close to comparing to how much I enjoyed that one. Also... gen-fic is pretty much all I write.
Even if I write pairing-fics, it's barely more than PG for content.

Right, for me- pairings are all about handling the subtext write. You could write a canon pairing, and if you do it wrong- I'm not interested. I want to feel that in the writing, not just 'know' they're together because it's assumed. Taboos are fun, but that's probably part of the reason I enjoy Elricest way more than any other pairing in FMA. Ed and Al are the closest close can be, Ed doesn't leave Al behind for four years, Al's not in charge of Ed's missions. They're equal, and helplessly and pathetically need each other. I might adore love/hate when done right (and complain that I hate all fluff) but if you give me fluff with an awesome dynamic- it's just all about how it's written. Which is why I really can't pick one genre over the rest. (Although if I had to.... it'd probably be angst.)

I like your definition of crack. It makes more sense than "the characters have to be throwing spoons at each other, and doing strange things" in order to be crack. Crack is just.... not feasible. That's all it should really be, in my opinion. But yeah, that makes perfect sense. The whole she's dead thing, I honestly forgot about that... which is why I went o.O crack, what?

Seconded. Extremely. I barely read any fic at all now, because of it. But, at least I know the ones I do read- I love.

o.o Gai/Armstrong. I swear I've heard that someplace before. Haha, so I guess you're not alone. Although I don't know much about Gai to even guess at how that would work.

Seriously- yes, in all seriousness, I believe that there are -no- canon pairings in FMA. I don't even ship WinryxScieszka any more than enjoying them on screen together. Then again, I don't really 'ship' anything in FMA so much anymore. I just always thought it was really cute.

Since I feel the need to defend myself, on the level of sounding like a hypocrite. The second line was a joke. (I don't even seriously ship them.)

I believe that nothing in FMA is canon, and only said that to exaggerate my point of 'approving' of said pairing.
