the kind of heels they typically use-- the boots with the lowish heels-- aren't actually bad at all. i wear them regularly, over sneakers or flats, just because they're more comfortable to me. and they don't actually stop me from doing anything.

Hmmm, interesting. I can't wear heals of any kind for more than about an hour or two, and I can't walk around much in them. Otherwise I end up in a lot of pain. Even the chunky, low heals, even wedges.

i obviously can't speak for anyone else, but i started wearing them more regularly about a decade ago when i realized that the position they forced me to stand in helped a LOT with my regular back pain. it didn't take long to get accustomed to doing everything in them, including a lot of climbing through shelving and on/in/around arcade machines.

Do you run in them, though? Just curious. It seems like they'd at least slow you down compared to walking shoes/sneakers. And that would be a pretty big deal for a cop or action hero.

i do! they're not so good for running in the rain, but i find they're steadier in the snow/ice than sneakers. friends end up falling flat on their asses while i'm staying upright.

I wonder if y'all are thinking about the same type of "low-heeled boot"...

I don't know? I guess, when I made the original comment, I was mostly thinking about characters like Beckett in Castle. She wears just plain high healed stuff that I imagine would be painful to run in and would slow her down.

Agreed, but that's not the sort of boot I thought the other person was talking about.

this was the kind I was thinking about. heel-style, at least.

Not trying to be rude, but since you've written it this way three times in a row now, I assume that it's not just a typo: are you using an autocorrect or do you really not know it's spelled "heels" rather than "heals"?

Honestly I'm half asleep and wasn't paying attention to spelling. I realize it is heels, I just didn't notice.

Do you do martial arts in them? These people aren't just walking around. They are fighting.
