This wasn't so much about contradicting the original, but I still seethe about how little of the Half-Blood Prince movie was about the Half-Blood Prince story.

Well, and I guess I do hate that getting rid of the textbook became less about "Oh, shit! Have to store it somewhere, let me use the big ugly macguffin to remember where I put it!" and more about Ginny tying Harry's shoe in the most erotic way possible for teenagers in a PG movie.

I hated the HBP book so much anyways. The movie was a mixed bag for me. I hated the removal of the half blood prince stuff and most of the Riddle memories. And that Harry and Ginny scene was awful. But I appreciated the lack of the characterization that bugged me so much in the book. Ginny was too flat, yes. But at least everyone didn't turn into massive jerks for one movie.

Yeah, even H/G shippers (including me) were like "uhhhh...."

+10. That book was full of cool weirdness and so much of it got replaced with NOT cool weirdness. (That said....god blessed the stoned spider funeral.)

The stoned spider funeral is literally the one and only scene in the entire series where I liked the movie version better than the book version. Daniel Radcliffe is <3
