Fic Recs!

I'm looking for fics for any couple that features the "first time/only time" trope. Like the characters are making an exception this ONE time or weird circumstances have allowed for them to get together...only for it to not be what they wanted after all. Just something where the characters know this is the ONLY time they're ever going to hook up. The sadder/angstier, the better!

AYRT - I've read so little MM fic I don't even know what I'm looking for, exactly. I am normally a canon ship person, but Mad Men being Mad Men, well, less so. I will say I prefer less ship-oriented fics and more fics oriented around after-the-ends, what-ifs, that sort of thing.


Do you use that screenname wherever you write/post fanfic?

Gee, I pretty much only read and write ship-oriented. I've read and written things "after the ends" and "what ifs," but they're all ship based in some way or another.

I'm not sure if this was what you wanted. There was an old Tolkien series of stories about Elrond/Legolas where Elrond/Gil-galad used to be a thing until Gil-galad died. Elrond/Celebrian was also in the past but this was a canon-compliant fic where Celebrian knew she would have to give up her life so Gil-galad could come back because elves can only ever have one spouse at a time. The story is about Legolas and how his family has a curse to never find happiness in love. The series wasn't completed but the individual stories were. In the beginning it was fairly happy E/L but by the end, it was going in an angsty direction (if I recall correctly). I feel like the stories were pretty long. Would that interest you?
