Videogaming is probably the best possibly return on investment for time spent with the medium/cash outlaid of any hobby?

In fairness to OP, return on investment is different from the capital costs required to get into the hobby in the first place, and it seems like that's more what they're complaining about.

That's only if you're trying to keep up with everything, a last generation console and a loaf of classic games isn't all that much.
