public, private, how many fights did you see?

Private Catholic high school. Very few fights, usually quickly broken up.

Public. Not many. Maybe 1-2 a month? Is that a lot?

Public. Only one fight, at the very beginning of the school year. My junior high was horribly violent with fights all the time, but my high school had a zero tolerance policy for violence and actually, like, stuck to it.

No second chances, let alone three strikes: you start a fight, expelled. Bully a kid, even once? Expelled.

Compared to the absolute and utter shit show that was my junior high, I loved it. The expelled kids got to learn the joys of distance ed! And assault charges!

Public. The first high school I went to (was just there through ninth grade), there were fights from time to time, but they always seemed to happen between classes and I always seemed to hear about them AFTER they happened, so they must've been pretty brief and uneventful.

I do remember a lot of kids getting kicked out of classes, though, and getting mouthy with teachers. And there were lots of kids who did drugs and drank.

The second one I went to after I moved, however, was pretty tame overall. I much preferred that high school to my first one.

I went to a public high school and saw maybe three or four fights a month. The girl fights were usually more bloody than the guy fights. There was a huge drug bust during my junior year. After a kid was shot and killed, the school started cracking down on fights, but I dunno how effective that was. It's still known as the "bad" school and people are always surprised when I tell them where I went to high school.

Public school in a middle class mostly white area. I remember a few fights, mostly between girls. I heard rumors of other fights. There was a nearby back street and talking about meeting there was code for going to fight.

Public.
Not a day went by without SOME JACKASS GETTING INTO A FIGHT.
Not a day went by without someone trying to drive someone to suicide.
Not a day went by without finding out yet another classmate who was used to abstinence-only sex-ed got knocked up.
Pretty sure that people brought drugs and alcohol to school and no one noticed it.
Mine was a hellhole. A festering hellhole.

The public school in my town is poorly funded and gang-infested, so I got special permission to go to the well-funded public school one town over. At the time, I had no idea how much people hate white folks who refuse to go to the school where all the black kids are stuck going. (In my defense, the principal one town over said I'd be "a lot safer.")

Public.

A fair few.

One time a dude got pinned down in the middle cafeteria and slapped repeatably with a dildo.

Public with about 2500 students. I don't think I ever saw a fight, but I heard about them a lot. There were lots of gangs and I once got mistaken by a hall monitor for a member of one because I happened to be wearing its colors. If they were that organized, maybe they had designated fighting areas. I don't know.

Public. Not much fighting when school was in session, but there was a shitload of gang violence before and after class. A restaurant near the school was robbed by some students. People offered to sell me drugs a few times, but I was a goody two-shoes back then and turned them down.

Public. Decent amount of fights. It's been a while, so I'm finding it hard to give a good estimate of frequency, but they were common enough to not really be remarked upon. There was a day when I was at lunch and two people started fighting on top of the table I was eating at, and we all just...kept eating and talking, like nothing was happening. It occurred to me later in the day how odd that was.

First, a posh catholic one. Then a shittier catholic one. Then a sort of tiny private school that wasn't really recognized as a school by the government.

I don't know how many fights - a lot, and I was probably involved in a fair number of them.

A state school(so I think a public school by US standards), there was usually a fight once a week and in my first year someone in year 11(the top year group) got arrested for bringing a knife to school.

Public. I only remember seeing one fight in the three years that I was there, though.

I went to three separate schools. I was in a private, Catholic K-12 school for deaf kids for most of middle school. Was bullied pretty badly. When I started high school I was transferred to a public school and was bullied even worse. I was there for all of a year before I went back to the private school, and the bullying continued. My last two years I spent half my day at a vocational school's A/V class. I had big issues with male authority figures at the time and I never finished the 2nd year, but it was overall a less horrible goddamn place than the other two schools.

Public. I don't remember seeing any fights at all, to be honest. Not to say NONE happened in five years, but I never witnessed them or heard about them.

Public. I'm sure there were fights, but I don't remember ever witnessing one--or if I did, it didn't make enough of an impression that I remember 20+ years later. Though I DO remember the dudes making a drug deal behind me while I was at my locker....

Oh boy...

1st high school
-public, inner-city school with mostly minority populations, very poor and violent
-at least one fight a day, sometimes more, nearly everyone I knew was in fights sometimes. this was in the bad part of the city so there was lots of gang activity, lots of kids getting shot at or shanked outside of school but iirc no one was officially killed while I was there, a few older teens got "disappeared" by the Crips and Nuestra Familia, and many of us were armed with knives or guns at all times even at school. Lots of smoking (tobacco and weed) and many of us used harder drugs. Lots of drug busts and drug dogs. Outside of the gang rivalries most people were very friendly and chill, not a lot of bullying.

2nd high school
-public, brand new and in a very wealth nice suburb neighborhood
-I don't remember any fights but I wasn't there long.

3rd high school
-public, deep south bible belt school in a small city
-maybe a fight a month? it was a very redneck school and I think sometimes there were fights off-campus. Lots of teen pregnancies and everyone was way into guns and hunting and stuff, very cliquey student culture, lots of bullying of weird or "queer" kids.

Large public high school in the burbs. Not racially uniform. Fights were uncommon but they happened, not with anyone I knew though. I was a band geek. Our performing arts delartment was amazing. Considered an all around very good school by many. I was lucky, and I loved it.

Public school. I never saw one but I heard about maybe two or three over five years. I wouldn't have watched anyway. I felt pretty strongly about glorification of violence and dumb posturing and I wasn't shy about it.

homeschooled, no fights unless you count me and my mom

Public, Catholic (Ontario, Canada - the Catholic system here is publicly funded, and thus held to the same standards as the non-Catholic). Fights...no physical ones, at all, only a handful of verbal ones in the five years I was there (I'm old enough to have attended when OAC was still a thing). Bullying that couldn't be called fighting, though, there was some.

Public. There were a few fights and a lot more unopposed beatdowns. (I was the victim of a couple of those.)
