My house is infested with Weedils... Only glimpsed one Paras on the train to work this morning! So it works fine on your tablet? I thought I heard that the game wouldn't work if you couldn't use cell. But this would be useful for my niece/nephews if they can play just on wifi...

Yeah, it works just fine, it's just that I can /only/ play on my wifi (and free wifi spots like cafes and restaurants). The problem is, all the Pokespots are out of range of these places + I don't think the tablet will count steps correctly, so no eggs for me.

Basically all I can do is catch Pokemon that show up in the wifi's range, unless I use incense. So young children would get enjoyment out of it, but would be very limited. My gameplay reminds me of how the average person plays Neko Atsume (check in now and again and hope you catch something).
