That's really sad ):

Hey, the dude is old. I mean real old. He's entitled to slow down and have a few memory problems and slowing reaction times.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-09 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
He's in his 70s. That is actually not very old.

77 may not be 'real old' (something I'd probably reserve for 90+), but it's still an age where mental acuity can take a nosedive, unfortunately.

And stage performance demands exceptional memory skills and concentration that lots of people don't even have at 20.

Okay, my first thought was "Sherlock Holmes?" before realizing my error.

But that's a bummer...

I remember watching one of the Hobbit vlogs and seeing him looking so much older and sounding really worn and somewhat less than articulate (!!!), and I had to turn the video off at that point, I just couldn't watch anymore. And that was a couple of years ago.

I had heard he'd had memory issues but he's about to start a run of No Man's Land with Patrick Stewart so hasn't given up yet!

Yeah, I have tickets for this and was very confused by the secret!

OP

(Anonymous) 2016-07-09 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Really?!?! I read this in an article ages ago, maybe he changed his mind.

I think you've got the wrong actor. Michael Gambon no longer acts on stage because of his memory issues - http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/theatre-dance/news/harry-potter-actor-sir-michael-gambon-retires-from-the-stage-because-he-can-no-longer-remember-his-10031983.html

Ian McKellen is still going strong on stage.

Arn't they confused for each other so often that they sign each other's autographs now and then?

(Anonymous) 2016-07-10 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this had me confused, too, because I heard PatStew talking about their upcoming stage run on The Nerdist a couple of months back.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-09 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man, that's really sad :( It's one of the most painful parts of old age, if you ask me. I understand your reaction, I personally avoid fiction or news about that kind of topic as much as I can, I've seen too much of it in person.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-09 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It really was an oddly wonderful film. I expected something a lot more... I don't know, conventional, but no. It was great.

I'm ignoring the second part of this secret.

Oh this makes me so sad. :(

(Anonymous) 2016-07-11 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, I didn't know. :(
