They changed one of the vents that was broken, but they couldn't tell what had broken it, so looks like the problem is still there.

Great, sounds like they didn't even change the air filter. Change the air filter and see what happens. What is the make, model, and year of your vehicle and is the engine light on all the time or is it intermittent (if the latter, when does it come on) and does the engine sound rough at idle?
