Artists who changed in a direction you like

So the opposite.

What are some artists who changed from their earlier albums where you liked the later albums?

I really love the later albums of Kings of Leon (I like some of the songs from the first two albums, but really their big hits came later)

To contrast with the secret in question, I liked 1989 more than Red; Red does have some good songs but it's still a little too country for my taste. Give me the vaguely 80s slick pop any day.

It's funny because I really love both of them equally. Both 1989 and Red are very similar to me when I compare her first album and Fearless. Speak Now is the only one I don't really care for and I guess it's because I think that's the more transitional album.

Ulver's early albums were a variety of styles of black metal, but after their third album they basically dropped it entirely and went into ambient electronic and it's amazing.

I said as much in the other thread, but I like Linkin Park's latter work.

I stopped to tl;dr in the earlier thread and didn't see this one till now. Now I'm embarrassed because my post was probably more appropriate here, or I could've split my thoughts between the two.

Emilie Autumn, After she dropped the fairy shit and started focusing on her anti-oppression themes.
