For years I have thought about writing a fic series about "What if Harry Potter discovered he had a secret twin brother on the Hogwarts Express?" (There's more to it, but that's the gist of it.) Then I think about how people would react to that summary and decide nah, probably not.

Basically it's like taking an AU where Harry was adopted by the Dursleys and treated better, and an AU where he was raised as a Muggle orphan, and smushing them together: they meet on the train, and nobody has a fucking clue what's going on, especially Dumbledore.

In the end, it's not so much an instance of Twins Separated at Birth as it is Split at Birth. I was thinking about how horcruxes are made by "splitting a soul." Instead of tearing it apart like a cloth, what if one could make it split into two duplicates like mitosis in a cell? Lily tried to save her son, and it had...unforeseen consequences.
