What system of magic do you most wish you were a practitioner of?

Chaos magic. It seems like the easiest and most powerful once you figure out how to use it. Also, I just listened to a podcast about it so it is the only one I know of.

I want to be a Melinian. Old-man shoes notwithstanding, it seems way better than the HP world.

Hmmmm. Potter magic because while it is genetic ability, it also has to be learned. I think it would be fun to go to a magic school and learn magic.

Also, Tolkien magic is interesting if your an ainur. I mean, while it isn't as active as some other magic systems, you'd be able to shape the world, shape creatures, shape things. And that's pretty cool.

Probably magic from a Dungeons and Dragons setting, they all look fun to me.

Whatever system of magic will let me shoot lightning bolts from my fingertips.

There was a comic book years ago, I think one of James Hudnall's, which had a guy who made his own decks of playing cards as a focus for magic. That looked cool. I like the tactility of cards, even if I'm clumsy enough in real life that that might be a bad idea for me.

Or maybe I just want to be able to do evocation in general. Is that the word?

Elemental magic a la A:tLA/LoK. I'd probably be a waterbender, but really, they all look so cool and useful that I'd want to be the Avatar.

The one I made up that would let me heal and cure the sick and injured (people, animals, plants, whatever), purify water, make springs in dry places, make plants grow, fix broken things, and teleport. Even though it's totally arbitrary, somehow that last one doesn't fit with the rest. Eh, I could live without being able to personally teleport if someone would teleport me places in exchange for curing their cold or planting their garden or something. Teleporting goes with flying and manipulating weather in my head, not sure why. Fireballs and explosions go with earthquakes and making things from nothing/empty air.

I like Jim Hines Libriomancer series, too. Especially if I could pull stuff out of ereaders, I'd totally be one of the people helping to pull out ftl capable spaceships or something. And I can think of books that'd let me heal, purify water, and make plants grow right off the top of my head; a couple of days reading and I could find stuff that'd let me do the rest.

Libriomancer is a great series. I sure wouldn't complain about having the ability to pull stuff out of books!
