Pokemon Go
(Anonymous) 2016-07-13 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)Gyms!
Re: Gyms!
(Anonymous) 2016-07-14 12:04 am (UTC)(link)-Gyms are associated with Teams (colors). If you battle a gym that is an opposite color, you can gradually weaken it and eventually take it over. If you battle a gym that is your own color, you can make it stronger.
-How stronger/weaker works: Gyms have levels. Level 1 is the lowest, that means they only get one Pokemon stationed there. The more levels the gym has, the more Pokemon get to be stationed there - so challengers might fight between 1 and 6 Pokemon. If you beat an enemy gym with 5 Pokemon, they go down a level, next time you challenge them they will only have 4 Pokemon, and so on. Once you beat that last 1 Pokemon battle, the Team is kicked out of the gym. You can "claim" it then (but you'll have to click it and deposit a Pokemon there to do so)
-If you train a gym, it takes a little longer. Basically, go to one of your own colors. You will get a little personal experience points for each Pokemon you defeat (you don't have to defeat them all). The gym also gets some experience points. Once they "level up", there will be an open slot for a new Pokemon. You can deposit one of your own, if you like. The Pokemon with the highest CP will be the "top"/last Pokemon at the gym.
-If you deposit a Pokemon, you can't use it until the Pokemon is defeated in the gym. With how many people are playing now, honestly, that's usually a matter of a couple hours or less.
-Pokemon don't heal automatically. You'll need to collect Potions to heal Pokemon after battling. They will not faint if you are training at your own Team's gym, but will have just 1hp after the battle. If you're fighting an enemy gym though, they will faint and you'll need a Revive.
Re: Gyms!
Re: Pokemon Go
Also, I FINALLY FOUND A GYM that was being run by my team and sent my Tauros in to help guard it or whatever. It worked for an hour or so and then my Tauros was returned with only 1 hp, which I can only guess means the gym was taken by another team (we didn't swing back that way). :(
I also caught a Growlithe and my entire day was made. Aaaaahh cute fluffy fire dog.

Re: Pokemon Go
OH, man, two of my eggs hatched today and I was so exciting! Until they hatched into a freaking Pidgey and a freaking Rattata! SO DISAPPOINTING. I didn't realize certain eggs were better than others! Now I have one that requires 10km of walking so hopefully I'll get something good out of it.
Re: Pokemon Go
Re: Pokemon Go
I'm going to be so upset if I hatch a damn Rattata or Pidgey... (There are so fucking many. SO FUCKING MANY.)
Sorry. :( Hopefully you get something better next time!
(I assume the longer it takes to hatch an egg, the better the Pokémon? I've only found one 10km egg though, and like eight 5km.)

I seem to see very few water type Pokémon... I feel like I'm missing out.
Re: Pokemon Go
Is it best to train them at a gym before using Stardust, or after?
I also haven't found many gyms (at ALL) belonging to my team, so should I just not bother battling until I find one? Most the gyms around me have Pokémon that are FAR beyond my CP, and I know I can't overtake them on my own.
Re: Pokemon Go
Re: Pokemon Go
Now I kind of regret it because I'm so alone...
You?
Re: Pokemon Go
Re: Pokemon Go
You aren't an asshole! (At least from my experience with you, but I'm sure I'm right!)
And I had heard Mystic was super popular, but I'm not seeing it locally. There's an overwhelming amount of Valor and some Instinct as well, with a Mystic here and there. I wish I was a higher level so I could help out more.
But gyms aren't the only reason to play, so that's okay!
Re: Pokemon Go
(Anonymous) 2016-07-14 01:51 am (UTC)(link)It's beautiful.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-14 02:18 am (UTC)(link)Also, the apartments across the street from one of the Pokestops put a lure tonight to play from their patio. So jealous they're in lazy range.
Re: Pokemon Go
Though I'm with you... Being able to play from your porch (Or work) is a dream come true. Damn.

(I'm curious to know what you caught, but this is actually my first Pokémon game so I'd have to Google the names anyway. I haven't ventured out at night.)

Re: Pokemon Go
Upgrading my phone is an option but an expensive one and I have a hard time justifying it for one app. But I'm still jealous and really sad that I'm missing out on this. :(
