Re: Dumbest mistakes about a piece of fiction you've ever seen

I can't believe I still remember this, but there was a review of the pilot episode of 'Dark Angel' that said it was unrealistic for an economy to be structured around bike messengers, and wondered why there weren't flying cars and off-world colonies in The Future. They had apparently missed that it took place only 19 years in the future (2019, man. I wonder if that reviewer is sitting around right now thinking, "why don't I live on the moon yet?!"), and that in it, the US was in the grips of a decade-long depression. They had also taken the fact that Max worked as a bike messenger and decided that everyone in the entire world worked as a bike messenger, despite being shown that there were other, better-paying jobs, and that Max had to steal from the people working those other jobs in order to make ends meet.

That deserves some kind of prize for sheer dumbness.
