I can't stop loving them. They meant SO DAMN MUCH to me as a teen for a variety of serious irl reasons. I own almost all of them (all bought secondhand, and I didn't discover them till after she was already dead, which helps me feel a bit less uncomfortable about it) and they're basically my treasure. I only found out what a piece of work she was a couple years ago and it's been kind of eating me ever since.

I'm sorry OP, that sucks. Maybe look at it as if you have made something good for yourself out of something she made? Reactions to work are as much about the reader as the author. Not a great answer I know but the only one I can think of right now.

OP, are you me? I'd been considering making a very similar secret as her books had a strong impact on my, but I can't stop loving the books, even after what is now known. I also didn't discover them until she was already dead.
