That makes sense to me. With the rise of intersectional feminism, the number of people trying to claim a right to be protected under the umbrella of feminism has vastly grown. It's now easier than ever for cishet white men to try and sneak into our spaces and force their viewpoint down our throats. Knowing in advance will help give is a means to fight back.

It won't stop people lying, but it's an important thing to at least ask.

I kind of feel the same way, but I also worry about whether I'm trying to "impersonate" people with various kinds of social standing or something. Like I'm trying to get away with something if I don't explicitly state that I'm male.
