I've been watching Mr Robot season 1 to catch up, because I bailed out halfway through last year. I still don't like it very much. I think I'm only making myself watch it because it's been so highly praised, and I keep thinking it will click for me at some point...

Yeah I started to watch it when it came out (because Rami Malek), but bailed after maybe 4 or 5 episodes I think? It was just so... I don't know if grimdark or dystopian are the words I'm looking for, since I don't generally dislike depressing things on principal.

Something about it just didn't click for me and I don't know whether I should give it another try or not.

ayrt

It wasn't the darkness of the storyline so much as the irritatingly pretentious style of the direction and writing. Most of the nerd-speak sounds like hocus pocus, and there's only so many deliberately off-centre camera angles I can take.

I got completely caught up yesterday. I'm excited for the direction it's going in now. I think it'll be even better with the Big Twists out of the way. I am more interested in the puzzle of 'how can Elliot manage his illness' than the puzzle of 'is he or isn't he'.

I didn't even know about it until recently, but I love me some Christian Slater, so I'll be watching it at some point.
