I don't want to rain on your parade, but how does this work in the context of the show/manga? Everyone in the world is like "Okay, you're our queen now" and utopia happens because she's awesome?

OP here: yeah, unfortunately, it's never really explained. All we know is that she becomes Neo-Queen Serenity the year she turns 22 and gives birth to her daughter. I've been meaning to look for fic that works it out. Maybe there's one more great public catastrophe, she purifies the earth, everyone stops being dicks too each other?

Or I wrote a fic that tried to explain it, anyway, because it always fascinated me. At least how she came to power in Japan, though there was enough "oh and the rest of the world was helped out too" that the reader could imagine that eventually the world could come under one banner.

Some sort of super evil rises, and she needs to use all her magic to stop it and the rest of the world realizes how bad it screwed up and falls in line. It is sort of a parable for the rise of Trump and the Brexit thing. Please god, someone step in and make us realize how bad we've screwed up and fix it.

Thank you OP. I needed that because I'm getting depressed over the news. I'm sure that people will make the wrong decision and Trump will be president this November's election, we will enter World War III and all the things we've fought for, such as marriage equality, will be thrown into the shredder. It doesn't help that there's all these shootings going on (Orlando, Baton Rouge) and the crazy stuff that's happening in Europe (mainly France and the whole Brexit thing). We are living in dark times right now and I don't see a possible happy future right now.

I often daydream about what the world would be like in a perfect world and it's modeled on the Age of Legends from The Wheel of Time. I actually have a lot of thoughts about this. It wouldn't be completely identical (mostly because channeling isn't actually a real thing) but there are a couple key things that would be very similar.

I like to imagine something similar, but it's a lot more homebrew, and involves replacing the cores of nuclear warheads so that when WW3 happens, it lets loose a huge release of magic instead of radiation.

There's also a lot of cosmology and a magical version of the Matrix involved.
