Yes! This is it for me. Either those who don't realize it is an adaption or those who have actually read all the material and still make major mistakes. Like, don't read the books? No problem with that. Movie only fics are fine. Writing book-based fics and getting things wrong (especially if you are throwing in movie things without telling us)? Then I'm annoyed.

Yep. I'm always mad when someone doesn't decide they need to do any research.

You always need to do research. Unless you know your material 100%, look it up.

It is a very common thing in the Tolkien fandom because there is just so much material. I don't expect people to have read everything. But they should research things they are actually putting in their fics.
