The courses are a nice idea, but the problem is that these groups views towards woman are such a central part of the way they view the world and their morality, which means it's one of the last things to be influenced by outsiders.

Take into account the fact that you get incredibly high rates of segregation and self imposed ghettos, and you're looking at something almost impossible to influence in a way we would be comfortable with*.

Like the whole multicultural celebration of diversity and the fact we have different holidays, and different clothing is the most shallow superficial parts of culture, rather than the fact we have entirely different body language, language (and the way this impacts how you see the world) or all the other 'deep' parts of culture.

It's a problem I don't see a real answer to, and we're just going to see increased conflict over it, as well as an increase in the popularity and power of the far right.

*The Chinese had some real success at removing cultural practices like footbinding, but I'm kind of a fan of human rights which stops the options they used.
