Never played the games, but as far as I understand his mother fought a demon while she was pregnant, and the demon possessed her unborn son and lay dormant for years until it started manifesting and getting him to use the Fel.

Sadly, movie lore erased his mother (unless they're going to make Alodi his mom), so it's unlikely to be the case.
