Urgh as an autistic person those kind of headcanons annoy me. And they do more harm than good.

I'm autistic, and there have been a couple characters I've interpreted as autistic over the years, but I tend to cringe about autistic headcanons on tumblr. They have this really weird, gimmicky quality to them ("the character's stim gimmick is such-and-such thing we've never actually seen them do in a stim-like manner! Their special interest gimmick is this random thing I just picked! They have these sensory issues if we ignore 80% of canon! Weighted blankets!"), and it makes me uncomfortable.
