What is the most sheltered/spoiled thing you've ever said?

(Anonymous) 2016-07-19 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Because come on, we're all guilty too.

"What is a FAFSA?"

:(

"How is there only one grocery store in your town?"

Then you get older and realize some towns don't even have one grocery store and feel horrible about it. :(

most of mine are probably also along the lines of being in a city and having gone to a big school. it's hard for me to imagine living in a small town.

Probably a variation of "it's only $20." Having learned better it's one of the phrases I really hate hearing now.

"Holy shit how do you live with the air quality like that? I didn't realize places actually got warnings unless there was like a wildfire or something."

Canadian privilege in full effect lol.

You don't have the (insert favorite fast food item)?!

(in my defense, said while hangry, but yeah... definitely not a nice tone to take with people who prepare your food)

You don't have cable?

You don't watch TV? [Fuck it, I still say this. You're weird if you don't.]

Well it's a pity to pay for it if you hardly watch it.

You still watching TV is actually becoming the weird thing if you happen to be a millennial, hate to break it to you.

Weird how? Compared to most people, yeah it's 'weird' to not watch TV, but if you mean it's weird as in there's something strange or wrong with people who don't watch TV, I don't see where you're coming from.

I don't see how that's privileged? Unless the reason they don't watch TV is they can't afford it.

idk the reason I don't watch it is it's not my preferred form of media and I don't want to pay for it. I could - I'm not rich but have a small amount of money I can spend on myself - but I'd rather buy ygo cards lol

I spent over a decade without watching T.V. thanks to circumstances of living (in my parents' house with my Dad and brother controlling the one T.V. in the house, and there was no online streaming at the time).

I'm still getting caught up now that I'm in my own apartment and streaming is a godsend. (My T.V. is still a vintage 1996 without a converter box, so all it's good for is playing my PS2/Gamecube games XD)

"THESE DICKWADS STOPPED SELLING SHRIMP RAMEN?!"

I can't think of a specific thing unless saying I grew up poor counts. I didn't, but saying that growing up, I wasn't allowed new clothes, sweets, or fast food and most of our furniture was hand me downs or from the alley, and that my parents drove a 20 year old truck made or rust and paint, with the doors tied shut with rope, but they also owned their house and four rental apartments within five blocks of the beach and I always had health insurance and they had plenty of money, we just lived day-to-day like poor people, gets too complicated to explain.

They cut off Netflix at work and I was pretty upset over it.

"Why doesn't everybody get "A"s on tests?"

Said by school-age me who had no idea what "photographic memory" was, or that it was special. I thought everybody had it. Heck, I didn't know I had it or what it was until years after I lost it due to a TBI.

So.. yeah. I still cringe thinking about it.

I humble brag about having first world problems such as needing to charge all my electronics because I was a zombie in front of some tiny screens for a ghastly amount of time.

"Gay people don't...have sex, do they?"

I was taught the only point of sex was to procreate.

My parents ordered wine at a chain restaurant, and were brought one of those little, like, 300ml bottles? I looked at it and said (without my brain engaging at all) "That's cooking wine!"
Bit cringeworthy, that.

"Ewww oral sex is so nasty how can anyone find that hot? PEE comes from there!"

Oh to be young and innocent again (and not as outrageously horny)

"You've never even seen Star Wars?" and "How can you not have even HEARD of Star Wars?" Both from the same conversation.

I also asked my Aunt if my cousin was "slow" because he wasn't reading by the age of two, even though I could. Apparently, no one informed my that it's not common to start reading at two.
