Yeah, same.
I think the mistake with Tom Bombadil is seeing him as this silly guy frolicking around the country and being whimsical, and not understanding his place within the universe. Because I thought he was a very interesting example of this great power who is also limited, and how the concerns of different parts of the world didn't always mesh. Even if Tom Bombadil was an example of an ultimately benevolent and helpful power, he just couldn't help with the War of the Ring. It's also the hobbits' first taste of just how big the world outside the shire is.
I was kind of bummed we didn't get a little more about Goldberry, actually.
