You're right about Martin being smug. More importantly, he plays Martin in every role.

But saddling Dan Rad with another series just seems cruel.

Eh. I think it is more than he is often typecast into those roles.

Have you seen him in Fargo? He is phenomenal and not at all like his usual roles.

Nah, it's just that in Fargo he plays a character who's supposed to come across as a dick instead of accidentally coming across as a dick.

Sorry, but as much as I enjoyed Fargo, the main difference in Freeman's acting for that role was the change in accent. He's still playing a rather smug, supercilious character who sputters in indignation a lot.

I felt like the smug kind of worked for Bilbo actually.
