Also, that's exactly what that bit in the second movie means, because at the end of the day, she cared more about living than saving him. And I can't fault her for that, I also like living. But if you're going to compare her and Imhotep to Evie and Rick, she's always going to come out looking worse. Hell, even just comparing her to Imhotep! He was tortured to death for her. He committed murder for her, he brought back the plagues (Or were the plagues just a side effect of his return?), he was willing to commit atrocious crimes to bring himself back to full power so he could ressurect her and be with her forever. And she was not willing to risk even possible death (Remember, Evie and Rick were just fine and it's not like Evie's a million times stronger or bigger than her) for him. And he knows that. It's why he let go and purposefully dropped instead of continuing to try and climb out: He had nothing left to live for. The love of his (after)life may indeed have loved him, but not nearly as much as he loved her. Everything he had fought for was not nearly what he thought it was, and he accepted death over that.
...That got long. I have a lot of FEELINGS about these movies.
