Except for a select few favorites, I actually enjoy character bashing, even for characters I like, because sometimes characters I like have some major flaws that I don't really feel get called out enough in the show. So, for example, even though I like Xander from Buffy, I will gleefully read any fic that bashes him because OH MY GOD XANDER, SHUT UP.

I'll also sometimes read character bashing fics for characters where the bashing is horrifically out of character (Like Ginny, even though I love her and don't get the hate) if it is coupled with something else I really want to read (example: I really like reading about characters getting bullied/ignored a la Harry in Book five where no one believed him, and then seeing those characters lash out/overcome it).
