One day, if we all wish really hard fandom will start using 'squick' again and leave 'trigger' for people who actually have need to use it.

I predict that the next generation of fans will thrive on shock value in attempt to rebel against the current generation, and using the word trigger will become super uncool.

Good. I can't wait for whatever word they pick so that 'trigger' can go back to being used for what it should be used for.
