As someone who's played the game since it was new I can tell you you're just gonna have to let it lie. It's 16 years old this year; its character models aren't amazing (though I've honestly seen worse from that era) and the map design is atrocious (though Deus Ex Revision pretty much makes that a moot point) and the voice acting can go from great to shitty just by talking to people standing next to each other, and it dumps a lot of its exposition on you at once from characters that might as well be 2nd-year sociology papers on legs. It's aged better than many of its contemporaries, but not half as well as it could have.

It's still the greatest game ever made though.

[eta] To say nothing of its increasing litany of technical issues as the software ages. That it requires a guide to get up and running (and I know which guide you're talking about -- it could be better) is just one more barrier to entry. People just wanna pick up and play, man, you know?

Maybe we'll get lucky and Deus Ex: The Conspiracy will pop up on PSN.
