As a survivor of emotional abuse from gaslighting parents who fucked up my mind all over the place for years go fuck yourself.

Oh dear, poor you, guess you totally know what it's like to be physically abused and nearly killed, your experience definitely sounds just as bad!

Oh for fuck's sake

Do you have any idea what it's like to spend years after you've left your situation trying to unfuck your head because you don't even trust your own perception? And you're not sure of anything anymore because your friends tell you one thing and your memories paint two completely different things and then those who grew up will of course try to say it wasn't that bad. You get to a point where you almost believe when your mother tells you all about how you used to "manipulate" psychologists against her. Do you have any idea what it's like to not know if you're just lying to yourself about everything and don't realize it. You don't know what if anything to believe sometimes.

I will fully admit I have no idea what's it's like to be in physical danger of anyone else other than my own self.

Mental abuse is an assault on the mind. It doesn't leave physical marks, but it leaves plenty of pain and confusion.

But you're not showing traces of any actual empathy, just a desire to prove that your experience was really bad so you can speak on abuse and no one else.

I stand by my statement. Fuck off.

Hey, fuckwad, thanks for perpetuating the cycle of abuse. Must be fun to be the abuser for once, huh?

Saying something you don't like is not abuse. Stop trivializing something real and dangerous so you can have a weapon against anyone who disagrees with you.

Its victim denial. Its "you didng suffer like i did so shut up"

I second this comment! I've had emotional abuse from both parents AND been gaslighted and betrayed by people that I thought were friends.

Seriously?

You're taking the side of the person who thinks emotional abuse can't be as bad as physical abuse and is playing oppression Olympics with someone.

You're surprised by this?

AYRT

Honestly I must have never noticed anything else they did like this , so yeah

Well she is the neo version of Hanoi Jane. She did sympathize more with the shooter of the Dallas cops than the family and friends of the dead cops, or the innocent civilians that were injured.

neo version of who?

NAYRT

You're talking to someone who gets their information from that weird right-wing alternate universe. They're referring to Jane Fonda and assuming everyone understands what they're talking about.

Did I reply to the wrong thing?

I read this thread v distracted. My option is that while both are fucking gross, the comparison is tricky as hell for a whole host of reasons, perhaps most obviously because the actual acute danger posed by physical abuse is not the same at all as that of emotional.
