I don't know about everyone else, but I still have a good number of VGA monitors at work - too many older computers that are still in good shape. Eventually, they'll transition out, but in the interim it's handy to have the two interfaces - plus, it's sometimes handy for setting up dual monitors.

HOWEVER, I totally agree with you about the "why don't you send me a DVI cable with my monitor"? I've got 2 million VGA cords, because every monitor I've ever bought comes with one. But the DVI cables, I have had to buy each and every one of them separately. So annoying.
