How do they compare to Ann Rice's vampire books?

I actually found these enjoyable and SUPER readable, the history and world building fun and delightful. In comparison, I find Anne Rice's books hit and miss, sometimes hard to slog through. I find Anne Rice's writing to be drastically different and uneven at times, but All Souls seemed pretty regular in style.

Of course, I have personal bias. I haven't reread any Anne Rice novels, but I have reread the All Souls books.

I love the series. I always have the audiobooks on my ipod as back up if I need something to listen to.
That said, I agree that the main relationship can be cliche and make me want to roll my eyes a lot of the time. But the world building, the historical accuracy, and the other characters keep me entertained enough to ignore them if I want to.

This series is honestly so fun and enjoyable to read because it's easy to get immersed in, despite being nothing particularly ~high literature!~.

YAY for an All Sous Trilogy secret! It's such a trope fest but it's quirky when it wants to be.

There's going to be a TV series? I read the first book of this and got so bored. It was the longest book I ever read where nothing happened.
