Star Wars

Kylux - I like both characters and they mostly interact with each other so I gravitate to them. Plus, they seem like opposites in a lot of ways, which is interesting to me.

Reylo and Kylo/Poe - Interrogation scenes do it for me. Plus, I love Rey and Poe as characters.

Luke/Kylo - I just really want to know what happened to turn Kylo dark, and I feel like forbidden desire would be an interesting reason why

Obi-wan/Qui-gon - I like both characters and I really like Jedi. I also like the Master/Apprentice dynamic

Anakin/Owen and Anakin/Bail - More hypothetical than what's on screen. I like the idea of Owen and Anakin from back before the Phantom Menace came out where I thought they would be actual brothers. I find the idea of Anakin and Bail both being Leia's father and also being connected to Padme to be a fascinating dynamic

Leia/Luke/Han/Lando - all combinations. I just really love them all and like to see them together and happy

I really can't ship anything I'm Star Wars and I don't understand why

I mean, i guess I could be down with general light side cuddle piles, but like, mostly, it just doesn't feel engaging in ship way to me, and it really should. Like, from the outside, Rey/Finn has a lot of characteristics that would ordinarily appeal to me, but instead I'm just... Nah.

I think everyone in Star Wars is just too friendly and guileless (or evil and guileless, which if anything is worse).

I can see that. I was a long time in coming for Luke/Leia/Han/Lando. I think it was because I watched the moves a lot as a kid - well before I shipped anything or looked at things in a relationship-kind of way. It wasn't until Qui-gon/Obi-wan and the prequels that I shipped anything but that was lowkey for me. TFA has changed that in a big way and now I'm huge into shipping. But I totally feel you in liking the franchise but not shipping. That's how I was for years.

I think Finn/Rey was cute in the movie but I'm not very passionate about it. I figure we'll see where it goes in the next one. Most of my other ships have no chance so I guess I feel less restricted or fear that I'll be jossed.

I like Han/any of the new characters because I have this fondness for old dog/new guard pairings. Like the older character has so much to ~*~teach~*~ them sort of thing. And I like it when the new characters are all hero worshippy of the old characters.

I can see that. I actually have a bit of dirtybadwrong interest in Kylo/Han. But I also really liked the Han/Rey dynamic. The only thing for me is that I don't like cheating and I don't like the idea of Leia and Han breaking up. But if Leia's involved or gives her permission, then I'm totally down. I could totally see a threeway with Poe, Han, and Leia.

I am all about Reylo.

And then I have a select few Reylux stories I like too.

Plus older Luke/Mara and Leia/Han ones.

I'm really curious about Rey and Kylo going forward. I would ship it regardless of whether they're actually related. Of the Reylo I've read (not much actually), I'm surprised there isn't more incest fics actually. Rey being related to Luke seems to pop up more in Kylux fics.

I love Kylo/Hux/Rey. I'm a huge Kylux shipper and I adore Rey, and the dynamics are awesome to me.

I haven't read any EU stuff and I was perfectly content with the Han/Leia we got on screen so I never really felt like digging for more. But I do like Leia/Han.

I don't read Kylux, but I find that Rey is usually related to the Solos in the modern AUs of Rey/Poe. "She Who Would Be Queen" is a medieval AU where they're cousins who are arranged to be married. There was another incest fic I read a few months ago, but I don't remember it now.

I love the dynamics of Reylux, have you read "A Dance of Titans", "Codega", or "Breaking Point"? I recommend all three, they're so good, but slowburn on all but Codega.

I was super big in to the EU, but I'm actually reading Han/Leia now on ff.net called "Identity" that takes place post RotJ and it's about Beil Organa being found alive among the Alderaan asteroid field and how Leia handles being with Han and her father. I like it so far and you don't need a background in the EU, even though some of characters are mentioned.

Yeah, I don't like AUs and I really don't like modern ones. I've only read two Rey/Hux/Kylo fics and they were bad. The first had dark!apprentice Rey (which doesn't interest me) and Hux was only interested in her and turned off by Kylo. I actually like Kylux so I have no interest in any fic where Hux and Kylo aren't equally engaged. The other one I couldn't even get to the Hux and Kylo part because Rey was so poorly written. It turned me off fic for these three. Maybe someday I'll go looking again but I have enough good Kylux to keep me happy right now that it's not worth the effort to trudge through the Rey/Hux/Kylo tag.

It's funny because right after the movie came out it was all Poe/Finn and Reylo dominating and now I've noticed tons more Kylux fics coming out.

I also didn't like AUs until this movie came out, but now I'll read everything.

And I agree, if I'm reading Reylux, it's got to be about all three of them.

Re: Star Wars

Yeah, there's been some scuttlebutt about Poe/Finn fans being turned off from producing fic because of fandom policing. Same with the hate that Reylo fans were getting. For awhile, it looked like Kylux was a bastion of wank-free drama, which attracted the other writers who could write their kinks without being shamed and picked apart.

Now there's finally drama in the Kylux fandom for the baseless "pedo" accusations and at least a handful of people who are trying to find "safe" fic and shaming Reylo fans, but most Kylux fans don't have time for that nonsense and the kinky stuff is still getting written with no fucks given.

As I basically am just reading on ff.net and AO3, I just see author's notes about the fandom drama and am so glad I'm avoiding tumblr because I know Reylo has a ridiculous anti fans who harass the fans.

"Pedo" accusations? Wait why? I'm just glad I happily read what I want and avoid the drama.

There was an artist who drew Kylux and she liked to exaggerate their height/body shape differences. One tumblr user accused her of drawing Hux like a child and called other users to stop following her, etc. saying that it made them uncomfortable and she was clearly attracted to kids, etc. Other Kylux fans came to her defense but she ended up deleting all her art and leaving the fandom.

I really like Stormpilot. I surprised myself a couple of years ago when I realized I wasn't totally adverse to Han/Luke. In fact I really like it. >.>;
I haven't read much fic for any SW pairing so I suppose I'm not rabid about SW ships. But I do have those two, at least. (And I've never minded the canon Han/Leia.)

Re: Star Wars

(Anonymous) 2016-07-23 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
I thought for sure I'd ship Stormpilot after seeing the hype for the movie. After seeing the movie, I could see what shippers were getting at but it didn't really hit for me.

I had a similar experience with Han/Luke. It was my first OT ship. I never thought of shipping anyone in the original trilogy. But then I was looking through the art of a mutli-fandom artist I liked and she drew some great Han/Luke art and one was for a fic, which I then read and began shipping them. I also didn't read much fic until TFA and my new shiny Kylux ship.

Yeah, as a kid, I really loved the Han and Luke hug, all of their interactions, etc., but it never occurred to me to ship them, and I was quite shocked that it did when I was older! TBH I felt like a real perv. :) But I can still enjoy them as "canon" as well nowadays.

Re: Star Wars

(Anonymous) 2016-07-23 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
I never really shipped much in SW previously, but since TFA came out and I'm kind of looking at it all again with new eyes, I've been surprisingly into various combinations of Han/Luke/Leia/Lando. Particularly the Lando variations. Han/Lando is fairly obvious, for the shady past together and the betrayal on Cloud City and the reconciliation and Han saving Lando while blind and then Lando's blind faith in Han during the final attack on the Death Star ... yes, okay, I ship them, but Lando/Leia and Lando/Luke are also surprisingly fascinating to me. Him and Leia would have a lot to work through, but there was all that time they spent looking for Han, and they also have some things in common that the others don't, like having been political leaders when the Empire came a-knocking and having had their planet/city destroyed/overrun. Lando and Luke don't have anything close to the baggage with each other that either of them have with Han or Leia, which might actually be a relief for both of them, and there's the little bit of rescue romance from Lando scooping Luke off the bottom of Cloud City during what was probably the single worst day of Luke's life. I honestly think I like every possible combination there, and I'd also be 100% okay with all four of them trying to work something out together.

(Especially if it involved Luke and Leia trying to pull Lando in because they know Han still loves him and for their own part they're at least intrigued, while Lando is bemused and maybe a little terrified since he knows they're both with Han and he's trying not to betray anyone anymore and/or get killed by any of three fairly terrifying people, and Han is stuck between being embarrassed, jealous in a variety of directions, touched, and kind of amused at seeing the usually suave Lando so off-kilter).

Lando was a character I didn't fully appreciate as a kid but I absolutely love now. My one big hope for the new trilogy (besides Hux surviving to 9) is that Lando makes an appearance. I really want to see him again, and I want to know what he thinks of Kylo and I want him to be at Han's Memorial Service.

There's a big Lando/Luke shipper on FFA who wrote a little meta about Luke/Lando that was absolutely excellent and definitely had me shipping them. I agree that there's a lot of fertile ground with the four of them. Mostly, I just want all four to be happy together.

AYRT

Lando was actually my favourite as a kid (blue cape plus flying city plus emotional betrayal arc, even as a kid I had particular priorities), I just never really shipped him with anyone because at the age I watched the OT it wasn't really on my radar. Going back now, though, I'm shipping him plenty ;) And, yes, mostly I want the four of them happy. I'd forgotten how much I loved them all.

I do hope Lando shows up in the new trilogy as well, though I'll admit I'm mostly invested in TFA for the revitalisation of the OT fandom rather than really on its own merits. I did enjoy it though, and I would love to see Lando come back and be there for Leia and Chewie in particular.
