I don't think it's junk to learn home ec stuff even if you already know something about it. There is so much that goes into home ec that it would be impossible for someone to know EVERYTHING the teacher was presenting. Even though I know some stuff, I wish my school had spent more time on checkbooks, taxes, and car maintenance rather than logarithms, plate tectonics, and Watergate.
