Franklin was more interesting to me. Majorly underused as a character, yes. But he was more interesting to me. Geribaldi was just unlikable, IMHO.

I gotcha. Whereas for me, Franklin was kind of one-note, and it felt as if they were constantly reaching for something to make him more personable and relatable.

I think I would have been more interested in him if they'd expanded more on his role as doctor, rather than trying to build his character by making him an addict and sending him on walkabout.

I played Franklin in a LJ-based journal RPG for awhile precisely because he was so unrelatable (although I think that was mostly how woodenly the acting was) that it was a challenge to write him. He was definitely not my favorite character in the canon, but he had a LOT to work with (his religion, his dubious medical ethics, his help with the underground, his shady past, etc) in terms of storytelling.
