Re: What class do you think should be taught in all schools?

My Mum used to teach Home Ecc, with Cooking and Sewing being a big part of it. But she was teaching in the 60s-80s, in an era when the idea of boys doing Home Ecc was almost unheard of, and as I said upthread, Woodworking teachers would teach the financial parts to the boys.

I managed to go through a school and era where there was still a bit of actual practical cooking and sewing taught, and one of my older and now rather tatty sweaters is the result of my 8th grade class sewing project. (My school was also fairly ecumenical in that we basically did both the Home Ecc subjects and the woodworking subjects, without a gender divide - that was at the start of the 90s).

I still think most of my cooking skills come from just cooking at home, but it is a class that should happen, and not be bogged down so much with "Food Technology" theory either.
