Mind you, I'm actually kind of glad that that they didn't give Uhura a 'pining' plot, even if it was for bad reasons. I'm more comfortable with the idea that there was a bit of attraction between them in TOS that never went anywhere, but which did given the different situation in AOS.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of that story as it is, so I'm kinda glad it didn't involve Uhura. It seems like people idealize what the Spock/Uhura thing would have looked like in TOS when Roddenberry never wanted ongoing relationships between the crew, but again, I don't remember how official the source was for this.
