Because in this scenario, the 99% are still suffering and will continue to suffer and suffer worse than before. Punishing the 1% without simultaneously improving the lives of the 99% dfoesn't fix anything.

You're talking about a situation where a bunch of normal people lose their jobs and potentially homes while some rich person has to sell a yacht and ramp back some of their investments.

This is not equal suffering.
