I think unwanted criticism is by definition not constructive because it's not going to be used to improve the writing. When someone insists on leaving criticism after a person has said they don't want it then they might as well admit they're doing it for themselves and not for the writer.

But then you get the question of whether concrit should be opt-out or opt-in. I can see arguments for both. I don't generally leave it unless I have some reason to think it will be appreciated. If they ask for it or if they respond well to it in other people's comments. I always make sure to mention things I like. I think it's just as important for a writer to know what they're doing right as it is for them to know what they're doing wrong.

I don't care if my opinion is ignored or rejected. I'm some random person on the internet. Why should they trust that I know better than them?

If someone doesn't want criticism, I better never seem them whining about not getting reviews. Got to take the good with the bad.

I think that's fair.

I agree with this.
