In dialogue it's not bad, but maybe try the whole word, and sometimes mix it up by acknowledging it in the narrative (Jane stumbled over the word, for example).

That's what I've been trying to do but I'm not that confident in judging the line where most people will find it too annoying. I worry too much.

Personally I think it's fine for dialogue. But I am not one of the people who is annoyed by it in general either, so idk...

I think just use it in dialogue. To have it in the prose bit would be odd, but if you're actually typing out conversation, then 'But witches are g-good!' Tara said is fine. I mean, if a characters stutters, you can mention it, but unless they're really firmly in the mind of the reader, nobody is going to remember that they *do*, unless there's some indication of that in the dialogue, and 'Tara stuttered' every other line is kind of...not good.
