It's definitely not a thing where I'm from in upstate New York.

The one thing I've found truly unique about where I'm from is salt potatoes, which I've mentioned before. A barbecue just doesn't seem right without salt potatoes but apparently people don't make them in other places.

...what are salt potatoes? I'm assuming potatoes prepared with salt, but how? fried? roasted? baked?

Here's what Wikipedia says: "As the potatoes cook, the salty water forms a crust on the skin and seals the potatoes so they never taste waterlogged, as ordinary boiled potatoes often do. The potatoes have a unique texture closer to fluffy baked potatoes, only creamier.[1] The standard recipe calls for one pound of salt for every four pounds of potatoes"

Which sounds like a lot of salt. I should ask to have these more often. I need more salt in my diet to fight my low blood pressure.

Potatoes cooked with this method are the BEST. I've been making them this way ever since I read this article/recipe:

LOL! I like the subtle "you could've googled this yourself" shade you threw there with the "Here's what Wikipedia says". No idea why people don't try Googling the answer to their questions first before asking someone else.

Because I like having conversations with people?

That sounds pretty good. I'd like to try them sometime. I'm kind of surprised I've never even heard of them or of potatoes cooked that way.
