Re: Concrit + Fanfic

(Anonymous) 2016-07-26 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
--When do you feel it's okay to leave it?

If the fic is posted publicly, then it's fair game. Unless the author specifically says they don't want any concrit.

--What is your response when you get it?

It depends on what kind of crit it is. If it's just obvious flaming, I'll just go ahead and delete it. But if it's legit, I'll be nice about it and thank the person for pointing out whatever mistakes I may have made.

--Do you think it's okay to give it unsolicited?

Once again, if it's posted publicly on the Internet on a site where you can leave comments, then it's fair game.

--Do you do it on or off anon?

Off anon. It's more likely to be looked at seriously if you're logged in and not seen as malicious.

--How do you typically phrase or set up your concrit?

The good 'ol compliment sandwich: Say something good about the fic, concrit, praise something else once again. And I make sure to emphasize that I enjoyed the fic greatly, but I would enjoy it even more if the concrit was addressed.

--What should you say, if anything, if the concrit is poorly received or ignored?

If it's ignored, then there's no point in saying anything else; obviously I'm talking to a brick wall. If it's poorly received, I wouldn't egg the author on, but I would apologize that they felt that way or that I was attacking them.
