43. Face it, we don't live in an open-minded world. Wherever you look, you're bound to find varying levels of homophobia in people. Granted if you're extremely homophobic, you're not going to sit through a fic filled with oodles of gay or lesbian fun time sex, but others can get riled up just with a little kissing, hugging or hand-holding. I recall hearing a case that a school actually tried to ban students from hugging each other, and the focus was only on a boy and a girl hugging.
Those warnings aren't meant to hurt anyone intentionally. I can understand how much it would hurt you to see warnings like that though. I'd hate to have to tell people, "By the way, I'm about to hold my friend's hand in an overly affectionate way which would imply I have feelings for her, so if you're not okay with that I suggest you leave now."

So we're supposed to perpetuate it? Moreover, to humour the homophobes? I think not. Sometimes it's good to think of why one does things, and realise that stop doing them might actually be a good idea, you know.
