Really? I just saw ST:B today, and I thought that Urban and Pegg were the only two actors to capture the essence of their characters (Urban far more than Pegg). Admittedly, there were plenty of things about the movie I didn’t like. Why spend hundreds of millions of dollars to make a movie and light scenes so the audience can’t tell what’s happening? Why hire Idris Elba and give him nothing to do? But I thought it was the best of the three and enjoyed Scotty’s subplot.

Why do you say Pegg is an asshole? I’ve liked him since Shaun of the Dead although I know nothing about him as a person. It makes me a little sad to think he’s a jerk.

Mostly he's a jerk because of the way he talks about Star Wars. He's one of those prequel haters who make it personal and insult Lucas who gave us Star Wars in the first place. And he says that prequel fans aren't real fans and the prequels shouldn't be considered real Star Wars.

Basically, he's the worst kind of fanboy.

Oh. Yeah, he's a dick. I have no patience for anyone who badmouths Lucas.

Don't forget he somehow got to guest star on an episode of The Clone Wars (as Dengar) for some inexplicable reason. :/

He's been banging that gong for years, and it's a big part of the jokes in Spaced, which I still find quite hilarious. I think he's a rational adult human who is probably mostly just taking the piss. And even if he's not, there are far worse things actors can be assholes for...

He doesn't like the same things OP likes, and doesn't consider their feelings when he discusses it. That's about it, really.

Nope, try again. I don't care if he likes them or doesn't. The point is he says people who like them aren't real fans and makes insulting, personal comments about the creator of something he does like parts of. He's the one who is dismissive of fans who disagree with him. That's what I have the problem with.

oh well, he literally said that he has no respect for people who like the prequel movies and that those movies are akin to Lucas killing his son. I can see why some people think that Pegg is a bit the over the top silly fanboys.
Hypocrite too because isn't he the same who bashed the trek fans who didn't like star trek into darkness and feel the reboot is not real trek?

Scotty had a sub-plot???? To me he was just sort of there in the background of everything and used as a tool to introduce the new (and most awesome, I loved Jaylah) character. I don't remember him doing anything noteworthy other than the expected deux-ex-fixes the tech.

If he was being faithful to the original, he'd attempt to deus-ex-fix the tech, and somehow make things many times worse by being cheerily bad at his job.

Eh. I am very disappointed how he acted with fans of the Prequels, but over all, I like him. And I like his Scotty. It's an AU, they can't be completely similar all the time.

I agree. I didn't know someone else felt the same way about him, I'm only familiar with his adoring fangirls.

I've met him in person and I can say that he was actually really lovely. Him and Nick Frost appeared at a convention, here in Australia, didn't charge anything for their autographs and stayed for hours, signing whatever people wanted them to sign, and just being all-round awesome. People were literally ripping posters off windows for them to sign.

I asked him how he was and he responded, in great enthusiasm, about how happy he was to be there and how much he loved the fans.

And yes, the prequels did suck. He's right.

I always thought he played a new character, not one of the original characters. My mind is just blown here and not in a good way. That is. What????
